History

The Hunter’s Grill opened in Hobe Sound, Florida in December 2012, but the Hunter’s tradition spans more than three decades. Naval Mehra opened the original Hunter’s Inn in Potomac, Maryland in 1978, having already established himself in the hospitality industry in Asia, Europe, and America . The restaurant was among the first in the region to feature an open kitchen design, a raw bar, and a European espresso/cappuccino machine (at that time, Starbucks only sold coffee beans in Seattle). Hunter’s was an instant success with locals and became known as the go-to place for great food, polished service, and a friendly atmosphere.

In 1992, The Hunter’s Inn re-launched in a new location just across the street from the original restaurant. The new location soon amassed an even larger following, including Potomac locals, Washington power brokers, and visitors to the area. In the following years, Hunter’s expanded to include multiple locations in DC, Maryland, and Virginia as well as a branch in Longmont, Colorado (under the direction of Naval’s brother, Vijay — himself a hospitality veteran and part of the opening team from the original Hunter’s Inn). The Mehra family later sold the restaurants, but The Hunter’s Inn continues to prosper to this day in Potomac.

Even though it has been more than 30 years since the original Hunter’s Inn opened in Potomac, the Hunter’s concept – great food, drinks, and service in an elegant and friendly atmosphere – remains popular to this day. The Hunter’s Grill in Hobe Sound retains those core values and builds on them with an updated menu of fresh, seasonal food.
